This Privacy Policy describes how BriefMe ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the BriefMe mobile application on Android or iOS. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the App.
We do not collect, store, or process any of the following:
3.1 Anonymous Usage Events
The App sends anonymous, non-identifiable events to Google Firestore (a cloud database operated by Google). These events contain no personal data and cannot be linked to you as an individual. They are used solely to understand aggregate usage patterns and detect abuse.
Examples of events logged:
3.2 Device Attestation via Firebase App Check
To protect the App's AI services from automated abuse, the App uses Firebase App Check, which uses hardware-level attestation (Google Play Integrity on Android; DeviceCheck on iOS). This process verifies that requests originate from a genuine, unmodified installation of the App on a real device. It does not identify you as a person and does not transmit any data that could be used to track you.
3.3 On-Device Data (never leaves your device)
The App stores the following data locally on your device using standard OS storage (SharedPreferences). This data is never transmitted to any server:
Topics, facts, statistics, and quotes are generated automatically by an AI system. We do not manually review or verify individual responses. Use the content for general educational interest only.
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their policies.
The App is rated for general audiences (4+ on App Store, Everyone on Google Play). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction). Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, this applies equally to all age groups.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at the address below. We will take steps to delete such information.
Anonymous usage events stored in Firestore are retained for up to 12 months and then automatically deleted or anonymized. On-device data (brief history and daily count) remains on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data through your device settings.
All communication between the App and our backend services is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS. Anonymous usage events do not contain personal identifiers, limiting the potential impact of any security incident. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because the App does not collect personal data as defined under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), most of the rights granted by those laws — such as the right to access, correct, or delete personal data — do not apply in the traditional sense.
If you believe we hold personal data about you and wish to exercise any applicable rights, please contact us using the details in Section 11. We will respond within 30 days.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

We will make reasonable efforts to respond to all legitimate inquiries within 30 days.
